Durdle Door beach is one of the most famous in Britain. The iconic landscape stands out in a majestic way, thanks to the predominant, natural arch that it boasts along the coastline. This portal-like structure is made from limestone that stands tall above the sea. It has been formed over the years from the slow, continued erosion of the stone as it gives way to the waves and is located along the Jurassic Coast.

Mupe Bay
Durdle Door might be the place everyone has on their to-do lists when they visit Dorset, but Mupe Bay is another must-see area of the Jurassic Coast that is a real hidden gem.
Set just around the corner from Lulworth Cove, the bay has a shingle beach and is mostly accessible on foot, unless the ranges are open. It’s ideal for anyone who enjoys a good, long walk, boasting a glorious view of the sea and the towering white chalk cliffs nearby.
The Blue Pool
The Blue Pool offers a refreshing break from the outdoors with a pool that’s famous for its ever-changing colours. Thanks to the very fine clay suspended in its waters, the pool can look green at times and turquoise at others, depending on how the light hits it. Now isn’t that truly something magical?
You can sit on benches set around the pool and rest while you marvel at the incredible colours. Mapperton House & Gardens
Mapperton House, home of the Earl and Countess of Sandwich, is a perfect representation of the remarkable beauty that comes from the combination of nature and mankind’s creations. The house is just stunning – so much so, that it has been used in the film adaptation of Thomas Hardy’s novel, Far From The Maddening Crowd.”
The gardens are, however, even more spectacular, with a perfect lawn and a romantic valley garden that’s sure to brighten up your mood and lift your spirits. Just like the gorgeous garden back at our Well Cottage, the Mapperton gardens are an absolute joy to simply bask in.
The Lost Village of Tyneham
Although this village bears the sad story of its residents that were forced to leave, just before Christmas in 1943, it has remained a beautiful place that has been made all the more special by its moving history.
The village is currently still owned by the Ministry of Defence, but you can spend the afternoon there and take a walk around to see the school, church and most of the houses that are still intact and being kept in good condition.
Gold Hill
Famous for being at the centre of a 1973 ad where a boy rides his bike down the cobbles after a bread delivery, Gold Hill is one of the most well-known streets in Shaftesbury.
Apart from the famous ad, Gold Hill is also a treasured Dorset gem for the amazing view one gets when they look down from the top of the street, which has been described as one of the most romantic sights in England.
Little Bredy Waterfall
Any waterfall is a thing of beauty, but the Little Bredy in Dorset is a treasure in a league of its own. The waterfall is hidden away in a little village where a lake feeds into the River Bride before cascading down into a beautiful watery veil.
Apart from Little Bredy which is likely the largest waterfall in Dorset, there are a few more in the area that you’ll enjoy seeing too. This includes Kimmeridge Bay, Osmington Mills, Compton Acres and the Ninesprings waterfalls.
